OneGuild, also known as the Peter Sheehan Diabetes Care Foundation (PSDCF), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and advancing education to improve diabetes care and prevent complications.
We bring together clinical, academic, and industry leaders to develop solutions that enhance patient outcomes, lower healthcare costs, and improve care experiences for individuals and providers alike.
Through strategic initiatives, research collaborations, and medical education, OneGuild is committed to transforming the future of diabetes prevention, treatment, and limb preservation—globally.
Dr. Peter Sheehan, an internationally renowned specialist in the field of diabetes, dedicated his practice to addressing lower extremity complications associated with diabetes. His specific research interests included peripheral neuropathy, wound healing, Charcot osteoarthropathy, and peripheral arterial disease. Dr. Sheehan actively contributed his expertise to numerous trials focused on these areas.
A graduate of SUNY-Downstate School of Medicine, Dr. Sheehan completed his residency in internal medicine at the same institution. Subsequently, he pursued further training at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, where he completed a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Dr. Sheehan's lifelong commitment to advancing diabetes care and treatment was evident through his active involvement with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for nearly thirty years, both at the local and national levels. Notably, he served as the Chair of the Cardiometabolic Risk Initiative of the ADA and as President of the NYC Leadership Council.
In his role as Chairman of the ADA Council on Foot Care, Dr. Sheehan led a consensus panel on peripheral arterial disease and diabetes, sponsored by the ADA and the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He also contributed to the Editorial Boards of 'Wounds' and 'Vascular Disease Management,' and held positions on the Boards of Directors of the ADA, PAD Coalition, American Heart Association, Wound Healing Society, and the Wound Healing Foundation, where he served as President.
Dr. Sheehan's significant contributions to advancing diabetes care included the design of an effective system for diabetes management, known as 'The Sheehan Model,' which has been adopted and adapted by PSDCF, now OneGuild, for the age of digital healthcare, leaving a lasting impact on the field.
