Innovation Under Constraint Recognition is a OneGuild initiative designed to identify and recognize diabetes-related innovation emerging from resource-limited settings.
Across the world, scientists, clinicians, and frontline innovators are developing practical, context-driven responses to urgent diabetes challenges. Yet many of these ideas remain under-recognized because they do not always reach traditional publication, funding, or visibility channels.
This initiative was created to help bring that work into view.
Important innovation is often shaped by constraint.
In settings where resources are limited, solutions must be practical, adaptive, and deeply connected to community realities. These approaches are not secondary to mainstream innovation. They are an essential part of how progress happens.
OneGuild believes that innovation developed in these contexts deserves serious attention, visibility, and respect.
We are seeking promising diabetes-related ideas, approaches, and innovations that respond to real needs in real-world settings.
Relevant submissions may include work related to:
diabetes prevention
care delivery
patient education and adherence
complications prevention and management
diabetic foot and limb preservation
community-based models
low-cost diagnostics or tools
implementation strategies adapted to local - realities
Ideas do not need to be highly resourced, highly polished, or already published to be valuable.
The initiative is open to scientists, clinicians, researchers, innovators, and practitioner-led teams working in diabetes-related fields in resource-limited settings.
We welcome submissions from individuals and teams. The initiative is not restricted to early-career applicants.
This is a recognition initiative, not simply a conventional award competition.
We are interested in work that demonstrates:
originality
relevance to local need
thoughtful adaptation to context
practical or scientific promise
potential to improve diabetes outcomes
Our goal is to create a respectful platform that helps make important work more visible.
Selected innovators may be featured through OneGuild platforms and communications, with opportunities to bring greater visibility to their work and ideas.
Recognition may include:
formal acknowledgment by OneGuild
feature stories or profiles
visibility across OneGuild channels
opportunities for connection within the wider diabetes ecosystem
Some of the most meaningful progress in diabetes happens outside the spotlight.
Innovation Under Constraint Recognition exists to help ensure that important ideas, especially those shaped by limited resources and grounded in local realities, are not overlooked.
